Carl Theodor Dreyer (1889–1968) was a Danish film director, widely ranked among cinema's greatest. He is known for slow, austere, spiritually probing films such as The Passion of Joan of Arc, Vampyr and Ordet. His work shaped later art-house and transcendental filmmaking.
