Privacy and data sources

About your data, and ours

Cinespective is a small, early product shared with a few people for feedback. This page says plainly what it stores about you, where its film information comes from, and what to keep in mind when reading it.

What we keep about you

Supabase stores accounts and data and sends the login email. The site is hosted on Vercel. Google is involved only if you choose “Continue with Google”. If you ask for a profile, your ratings, comments and questionnaire answers are sent to Anthropic, the company behind Claude, to write it; the age and gender answers are used only to set the tone, not to describe you. We do not sell your data or use it for advertising. You can ask for your account and everything in it to be deleted at any time, by contacting the person who invited you.

Where the information comes from

The film guides

The guides (why watch, context, the story, themes, legacy, cultural impact, and the kids guide) are written by an AI in our own words and have not been reviewed by an editor yet. They can contain mistakes. The “Watch with kids?” advice is a suggestion, not an official rating; the official ratings shown next to it come from TMDB.

Images, names and logos

Posters, stills and portraits belong to their rights holders and come through TMDB. Names and logos of IMDb, TMDB, Rotten Tomatoes, Metacritic, Letterboxd, JustWatch, MUBI and YouTube belong to their owners, are used only to identify them, and do not mean any of them endorses or is connected to Cinespective.

Not a commercial service

Cinespective is free and not-for-profit at this stage. Some of the data above is licensed for non-commercial use only, so the data sources would need to be licensed or replaced before any paid version.
