Michael Curtiz, born Manó Kaminer in Budapest, was a Hungarian-American director who made films in Europe before becoming a Warner Bros. mainstay. He moved fluidly between adventure, noir, musicals and drama, and is best remembered for Casablanca and The Adventures of Robin Hood.
