Anthony Perkins (1932–1992) was an American actor and singer, best remembered as the shy, unsettling Norman Bates in Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho. He began as a sensitive young leading man, worked extensively in Europe, and later revisited Bates in sequels, also directing Psycho III. His career reshaped the image of the screen villain.
