Franz Waxman
Born 24 December 1906 · Königshütte, Upper Silesia, Germany [now Chorzów, Slaskie, Poland] — died 24 February 1967
Franz Waxman was a German-born American composer who became one of Hollywood's leading film score writers from the 1930s to the 1960s. He scored horror, noir, drama and romance, and won consecutive Oscars for Sunset Boulevard and A Place in the Sun. He also founded the Los Angeles Music Festival in 1947.
