Karl Freund (1890–1969) was a Bohemian-born cinematographer and director who shaped the look of German Expressionist cinema, shooting The Last Laugh and Metropolis. After moving to Hollywood, he shot Dracula and directed the horror classics The Mummy and Mad Love. He is a key figure in visual storytelling.
