When their owner leaves the room, a boy's toys come alive. Woody, a cowboy doll and the natural leader of the toy box, finds his place threatened when a flashy space-ranger action figure arrives as a birthday present. A warm, fast comedy about rivalry, belonging and what it means to be played with.
Why it matters in cinema history
A turning point between hand-drawn studio animation and the digital era, and the film that established Pixar as a creative force rather than a technology company.
Watch with intention
Watch it as a story told by a new tool: how each design choice turns the limits of early CG into character and comedy.
