A trade dispute between a distant planet and a powerful commercial federation draws two Jedi into a conflict far larger than they expect. On their journey they meet a gifted boy on a desert world. The tone is that of a space fairy tale, with political intrigue and large-scale spectacle.
Why it matters in cinema history
A defining film of the turn from photographed to digitally constructed cinema, and the start of the most commercially watched prequel project in popular film.
Watch with intention
Watch it as a story told through a new toolset: ask where Lucas's digital world-building serves the story and where it takes over.
