Elmar Klos was a Czech film director and screenwriter from Brno. For about seventeen years he worked in partnership with the Slovak director Ján Kadár. Their best-known film, The Shop on Main Street, became a landmark of the Czechoslovak New Wave era and won the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film.
