Ján Kadár (1918–1979) was a Budapest-born Czechoslovak director, best known for his collaboration with Elmar Klos. Their wartime drama The Shop on Main Street won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film and became a landmark of the Czechoslovak New Wave. He later worked in Canada and the United States.
