Horror
American
2022 · Directed by Ti West · 106 min
Texas, 1979. A small crew drives into the countryside to shoot an adult film on a remote farm, certain they are about to make their fortune. Their reclusive hosts are not what they seem, and the shoot becomes something no one planned for. Tone: slow-building, sly, then merciless.
Why it matters in cinema history
A defining horror release of the early 2020s, it belongs to the wave of art-house-minded genre films that revisit the grindhouse and slasher era as both homage and critique.
Watch with intention
