2013 · Directed by Mat Kirkby · 21 min
Heather works quietly at a helpline call centre, more at ease with other people's voices than with her own life. One evening an unusual caller comes through, and the film settles into a small, intimate drama made almost entirely of conversation.
Why it matters in cinema history
A modern landmark of the British short film, it belongs to a long tradition of telephone dramas and understated, character-led storytelling in which a single voice on a line is enough to carry a story.
