Adventure · Horror
British
2005 · Directed by Neil Marshall · 100 min
A year after a devastating loss, Sarah joins her closest friends for a caving trip in the Appalachian Mountains. The expedition is meant to restore old bonds, but the deeper the group goes, the narrower the way back becomes. A claustrophobic survival horror about darkness, pressure and trust.
Why it matters in cinema history
A defining film of the British horror revival of the early 2000s, and a benchmark for claustrophobic survival horror that treats its characters as people first.
