Horror
Australian
2023 · Directed by Michael Philippou & Danny Philippou · 95 min
A grieving Australian teenager and her friends discover a dare that is part party game, part séance: grip an embalmed hand, speak a phrase, and let a spirit in for a short time. The thrill spreads fast, and so do the stakes.
Why it matters in cinema history
A defining film of the 2020s wave of emotionally driven, director-led horror, and a fresh update of the possession story for a generation raised on phone cameras.
Watch with intention
Watch how the film treats the ritual as a drug-like social habit, and how that shapes who is drawn in and why.
