Miles Morales, a Brooklyn teenager who feels out of place at his new school, gains extraordinary abilities and has to work out what kind of hero he can be. An animated superhero story that mixes comic-book design, humour and heart.
Why it matters in cinema history
A defining film of the post-2010 shift in animation toward painterly, stylised looks, and a rare case of a franchise film that changed how its medium was imagined.
