In 2006, the host of a hit television franchise built around public sting operations is hungry for the kind of success that goes down in broadcast history. Robert Pattinson plays Chris Hansen in a tense drama about ambition, image and the machinery of prime-time television.
Why it matters in cinema history
A 2026 release, it extends the long tradition of films that turn television's own methods back on the industry, now through the lens of the reality-TV and true-crime era.
Watch with intention
Watch Hansen as a performer: notice when he is playing the television host and when the performance is left unprotected.
