At a sunny California high school, a series of murders hangs over the campus while the adults carry on with their own private lives. A sex comedy and a whodunit share one frame, and the film dares you to decide how seriously to take either.
Why it matters in cinema history
A characteristic early-1970s studio oddity: it belongs to the moment when Hollywood, newly free of the Code, tried sex, satire and genre mixtures with uncertain judgment and uneven results.
Watch with intention
Watch it as a tonal experiment: how a bright, jokey surface sits beside a story about danger, and what that gap tells you.
