Dom Cobb is a thief who steals secrets from people's minds while they dream. He is offered one last job that would reverse the exile he lives in, but it requires the opposite of theft: planting an idea. A heist thriller built inside layered dreams.
Why it matters in cinema history
A defining film of 2010s Hollywood spectacle, it showed that a dense, puzzle-like original screenplay could work as a global mainstream hit.
Watch with intention
Treat it as a heist film first: pay attention to who is on the crew, what each specialist does and what the rules are.
