A violent rainstorm floods the road and strands ten strangers at an isolated Nevada motel. When one of them turns up dead, the survivors realise a killer is among them and the group begins to unravel. A compact, tense whodunit with slasher-style menace.
Why it matters in cinema history
A representative mid-budget studio thriller of the early 2000s, it shows how classic detective-story structure could be fused with the horror conventions that had been popular since the late 1970s.
Watch with intention
Treat it as a classic closed-circle whodunit and play along: track who is where, who says what, and when.
