Peter Banning is a busy, phone-glued corporate lawyer who has little time for his children. A trip to London and a sudden crisis draw him toward a place he has long forgotten. Spielberg's family adventure asks what becomes of a boy who never grew up once he does.
Why it matters in cinema history
A late, large-scale example of the Hollywood family fantasy tradition, made by the director who defined it in the 1980s. It also marks the end of an era of purely practical, set-built fantasy worlds.
Watch with intention
Watch it as a story about a parent's attention, where Neverland is the setting for a family argument.
