A Romanian couple and their children move to a remote Norwegian village, hoping to rebuild after a family loss near the wife's relatives. Friendly neighbors offer warmth, until a child's appearance at school disturbs the calm. A long, patient drama about belonging and judgment.
Why it matters in cinema history
A recent work in the line of the Romanian New Wave and European social-realist art cinema, and a marker of how that tradition has become more transnational in its casting, financing and settings.
Watch with intention
Watch how each scene lets ordinary kindness and suspicion sit side by side, and ask whose point of view you are being invited to trust.
