Narrated by Kobe Bryant, this six-minute hand-drawn film turns a poem he wrote into moving images. Addressed to the game itself, it traces a bond that begins in childhood imagination and grows into a life's work. Intimate, brisk and lyrical.
Why it matters in cinema history
A late example of hand-drawn animation thriving in the digital era, and a notable case of a non-filmmaker's personal writing becoming prize-winning short cinema.
Watch with intention
Watch it as a poem in motion: how much do the drawings add to words you could read in a minute?
