Sophie, now an adult, looks back at a summer holiday at a Turkish resort that she spent with her father, Calum, when she was eleven. Built from memory, home-video footage and quiet observation, the film is gentle, unhurried and attentive to small things.
Why it matters in cinema history
A leading example of the intimate, elliptical, memory-driven drama that marked art cinema in the early 2020s, and a rare debut that combines emotional restraint with formal daring.
Watch with intention
Watch it as a memory: what is present, what is only glimpsed, and whose eyes are doing the remembering.
