A day and a half in the life of the Beatles as they travel by train and van to London for a live television broadcast. Pursued by fans, managers and the press, and saddled with a troublemaking grandfather, they treat the whole thing as a game. Light, quick and openly playful.
Why it matters in cinema history
A defining film of 1960s British pop culture, it set the template for the rock-band feature and showed how New Wave techniques could be used in commercial entertainment.
Watch with intention
Watch it as a comedy about image: four real people performing a fictional version of themselves while the film plays with that idea.
